Ready set Go

The final papers are turned in, the house is packed and cleaned and we have said goodbye to some of our most favorite people in the world. We are now on vacation, but I dont know if my mind and body will actually realize it for quite some time.

We first wen to Portland to drop off Twyla's car for her return trip in September. We were lucky enough to catch Marry cooking dinner for some guest. We weaseled out our invitation and had a delicious dinner on her patio. When we first moved to Oregon, Mary put us up for a few weeks until we could find a place to live. It was great closure to my Oregon experience to come full circle and spend my last evening where I started.

We left with a huge plate of leftovers and tried to get out of Oregon before we crashed. We finally stopped at around 1:00 at a free campground right on the Oregon/Idaho border. I thought it would be fun and easy to just throw down our bags on the ground and crash. We are on a quick learning curve. After a few dozen mosquito bites and constant buzzing in our ears we broke down and put up the tent. Life got a lot better for a while until around 4:00 I felt a spray in my face. No rain, but the dew is very heavy, so we resorted to the rain fly on a hot night. Our first night of camping was kind of rough, but we are learning and by the end we will have our systems dialed.

I'll be checking your blog regularly, since I'm expecting an epic Azimut-esque account through hilly and sweaty Appalachia from the two of you. I'm sure Rob will just be checking in to peek at Greg's cycling wardrobe.

Sending my good Eugene hippy energy to you both. Safe travels.

I wish you were here, and not simply because I broke my bicycle out of a three-season hiatus and need advice on chain oil. We miss you! Updates would be welcomed and read, you know.
